ONCE IN AWHILE, it’s important to carve out a slice of time to recharge your batteries. For me, a couple of hours out on the golf course does wonders to clear the head and focus the mind. Last Tuesday afternoon was an especially memorable time. With the temperature hanging at 108 degrees, my 80-year-old Daddy stopped after nine holes. A wise man. I decided to continue. I was enjoying the solitude of the near-empty course (Most people are too smart to be out there on such a day). I lasted another twelve holes before giving it up.
THE BREEZE felt a lot like a blast from a hair dryer on the “High” setting, but it was a beautiful afternoon. I was back to work after less than four hours away, none the worse for wear. Now YOU tell one!

LITTLE MISS MUFFET would have a fit if she knew about our latest office alarm adventures. We were getting false alarms from our otherwise-trusty alarm system. When the alarm company service feller checked the system, he found that one of our motion sensors had a resident SPIDER which apparently was setting the thing off. An easy fix! The spider was arrested for breaking and entering. The trial was speedy. He was convicted and promptly squished. (How IS your breakfast this morning? Sorry.).

A FAMILY invited guests for dinner. When everyone was seated, the lady of the house asked her six-year-old daughter to say the blessing. “I wouldn’t know what to say,” the girl replied. “Just say what you hear Mommy say,” the Mom answered. The daughter bowed her head and said, “Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?”
